Primary function

We are seeking a multi disciplined website developer and graphic designer capable of great production pieces that can also help manage and grow client relationships through creative channels.


Salary: £24,000.00 – £30,000.00 depending on experience

Base hours: 9-5.30

Location: Cambridge, UK

The role

Brownstone Advertising and Marketing (BAAM) have demonstrated a commitment to meet the requirements of its clients through digital since 2001.

The position for a middleweight developer to undertake and help manage the website department requires a technically sound, confident, organised and enthusiastic individual. With a focus on attention to detail you will be committed to producing digital solutions that meet the expectations of our clients.

An ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of and interest in:

  • WordPress & WordPress theme development (plugin development is a bonus)
  • PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS (knowledge of Less and Sass is a bonus) & Javascript
  • SEO techniques
  • Responsive design
  • Photoshop and Illustrator (knowledge of other packages, e.g. Sketch is a bonus)
  • An understanding of e-commerce (experience with Woocommerce is a bonus)
  • A basic understanding of App dev is a bonus

The role is predominantly digital development. As a small agency we all need to pull together and help in other relevant areas so please take that into consideration with this offer. These things will certainly include graphic design for print, brand logo identities, digital marketing and promotions, press ads and brochure design. Some research and analysis and other tasks related to the digital department such as domain and hosting registration and management and general best advice will also make up this role.

  • Liaise with clients to receive briefs, present creative work and update them on their projects

  • Identify ideas for new business opportunities from existing clients
  • Contribute ideas to the management for growth of the business
  • Knowledge of each step of an ad campaign’s process to give creatives direction, work on schedule and meet client’s advertising expectations
  • A strong working knowledge and keen understanding of design, brand development, interactive commerce and creative process
  • A good knowledge of how to achieve good integrated campaigns across multiple formats
  • An understanding of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography & limitations of the web
